The date is set

I have had a up and down week. Tuesday morning I checked with Darrell about a July start date for part time. They have been having trouble finding anyone to hire so he said that it did not look like going part time in July would happen. So I thought about it, called Theresa to get some moral support and decided I would tell Darrell that I would have to leave, because I can't continue working the 5 days a week. After lunch I talked to Darrell again, and told him I was going to leave IBM. He seemed to be quite surprised, although I wasn't sure why, I thought I had been clear. We talked about it a bit more, and he asked me if I would stay over the summer working part time. I thought that was pretty weird, so we talked some more and came to an agreement that I would start part time on July 9, and as long as it continued to work for the account and me, I would stay. Today I talked to Kyle, my profile holding manager, and we decided I would transfer to a manager on the GOA account. Her name is Marlene and I talked to her today as well, she is happy I am staying and supports the part time. I also talked to my supervisor Sam today and she is happy I am staying too. It was funny, because Sam totally understood that if I did not go part time I was leaving and she couldn't understand how Darrell could be so obtuse. Any way in the end it all turned out OK, and part time here I come.

Tuesday night I went over to visit George and Kay. They had been to see their Dr, for their annual physical and everything is gook. George has lost all feeling in his legs below the knee, so is a bit worried the Dr will say he cannot drive any more. Not too much new with them. Deanna is recovered from her knee surgery and is going to visit Nancy this weekend.

Yesterday was beautiful

today I can hear the wind howling, but the sun is out and the sky is blue, so I am going to pretend it is still beautiful.

If you read the comments on the previous post, you know that I have talked T&G into coming with me to New York and Connecticut, not that it took much talking, they were very receptive. Anyone else want to come along? Week of March 14. It is good to have something to look forward to.
I saw the other Sivaks last week, and Uncle George had to go in for a but of minor surgery. His lower eyelashes are curling in and poking him in the eye. Other than that both are well, and have planned a trip to Phoenix at the end of March, into April.

Another person quit at work, so I guess that means more turmoil there, that is the 3rd in a month. I don't think it will affect me too much, might mean more work. I just generally do what ever they tell me and try not to let it get to me.

I had breakfast with Allison yesterday, and she showed me the stuff she has picked out for the kitchen and storeroom, both great choices, it will look so good in her house. Maybe this will be the year I do some renos here, or maybe not.

Saw My Dr Yesterday

I don't know why I kept thinking that the appointment was for the 13th. Anyway thyroid is under control and she looked at my incision and said it seems to be doing nicely as well. I asked her about the houseboat and she also said it would be fine to go as long as I am not too far to get to the shore and help just in case (I did tell her I would have a couple of nurses close at hand, one nurse wanna be and a Dr wanna be, and if that all fails a Priest wanna be, so thought I would be covered). Yea!!!

Last night was the last patio for Latitude for the season, so I decided to shuffle along and attend. Kirsten was there, and it is always great to see her. Allison of course was there, and after she had a couple of beers, she has agreed to be my Sherpa on Saturday so I can go to the market and pick up some Fruit and Veg. Who is a good sister, who, who, who? Todd was also there and gave me a big hug.

I think today will be pretty low key, I need to spend time getting my strength up after the outing yesterday and in anticipation of the outing tomorrow.

Aunty Kay called yesterday and said she had a shot in her eye on Wednesday, I guess that would be for the macular degeneration, anyway she said that everything was fine, although Uncle George could not get out, since the weather has turned to rain. I have not met him on the bench yet, if the sun shines next week, I will. Will Aunty Kay wanted to know if the Sri Lanken refugees had followed you back to Canada?

Where are Pictures of Mom's House?

Lisa, you said you would post today!!

I went to the market this morning, and bought fruit and vegetables, pyrogies and pecan tarts, my basket was very full when I was done.

This afternoon, I went to Mark and Holly's(Aunty Kay's nephew and wife) acreage for Tom Yelic's 70th birthday. Aunty Kay called yesterday and asked me if I wanted to go. I was not going to go but then I decided I should get out. I had a nice visit with Marylynne and Deanna, but most of the other people I did not know, or I met them when they were little kids (Mark and Shawna). I made myself talk to other people, who were all very nice. There were some friends of Shawna's from nursing school, some relatives of Hulda's from Manitoba, some relatives from Holly's family. I talked briefly to John and he said he and Elaine would try and stop by and see Mom on the way home. Kind of a funny day, it got cloudy and sunny and cloudy again, it spit rain for a couple of minutes. I also had a nice talk with Nate Carlson, he has gone back to school, Grant McEwen to get his teaching degree, he can do two years there and then transfer to U of A. He wants to teach Junior High Social and English. He said Jr high was where he got off track and thought it would be good to try and steer some kids that age in the right direction. I told him he was very brave, to want to teach kids that age. It was very nice to see Tom and Hulda again, I think the last time I saw them was at Uncle George's 80th birthday.

I also had a long talk with George, he said he heard about my "troubles". I said oh you mean the cancer? He said yes. So I said well once I have the surgery, maybe I will walk over and join you on your bench, if you don't mind. He said sure come on along, but that is if I can still make it, it is getting harder every day. Then a big sigh, and "How green was my valley". He makes me laugh.

Some News

I finally called Kay yesterday and got the news from that side of the family. There was some bad news, Dennis had a mild heart attack about 3 weeks ago. Kay said they did not even find out about it until after he was already home. He has a shunt, and is still off work, but seems to be feeling better and getting out and walking every day. And some good news, Kay is feeling better, finally, it turned out she had some kind of pinched nerve, from the car accident, and has gotten some kind of shot, so is feeling much more like her old self. And lastly, Deanna and Rod are moving on Monday, to an over 45 complex in Lewis Estates in the west end. They were looking for a bungalow, but could not find the right one, so will be moving into a duplex. I guess that means that both kids are living on their own now. I also found out that both George and MaryLynne have thyroid problems and are on medicine for it. I am going to see George and Kay this week, so will pass along any more news I hear.

Kay also told me a funny story about Elaine and John swinging by the house to visit Mom, and being scared when they saw the for sale sign on the front yard. They called her up to see why, and make sure Mom was OK. I think that is very sweet.

I walked over to the Farmers Market yesterday and picked up some flowers, and the first cherries of the season. I am planning on planting today, so I can sit out side and enjoy them (both flowers and cherries).

Laura, I really like the pics of Mom's new pad. Now that I have seen the front, I know what house it is. Mom the colours you picked out are very nice. Not too much longer now, and you will be in your new house, and able to keep an eye on the kids across the street.

Nice to have Company

The Rocky people arrived about noon. It was great to see Grace again, seems as though she has been gone from Edmonton longer than 2.5 months. She brought our new nephew Scott and Theresa is always a good guest, and visiting with her is fun. We did not do too much in the afternoon, I went over to get my hair cut, and we both had naps, and sat on the balcony and visited. Saturday night we went to Doans for Vietnamese food, Grace and Scott had never had it before, and they seemed to enjoy it.

Sunday morning Theresa and I were up early and had coffee on the balcony, before going to visit the other Sivak’s. Haley is moving out of home, to live closer to University. She was asked to move right into he PHD, and not finish her masters so that was quite a compliment to her work. Marylynne and Ali are touring around Australia, and will be home next weekend. Nathan is taking some night classes, but Kay was not sure what exactly he was taking. He is still operating the backhoe during the day. Cooper is apprenticing to be a welder. Deanna and Rod are looking for a new house, all on one level, because of Deanna’s bad knees.

After the company left, I did not do too much, had to go down town and return some library books. Bought some new frames so I can hang some art
