A Visit to the Jello Boys of Blondeaux Crescent

Westjet had a seat sale so I decided to visit Jim and Richard. Jim met me at the airport with a lei and wearing a tropical shirt, so it felt very much like I was on holiday, returning back to Hawaii. The weather was hot but not reaching 40 hot, so very bearable.

Jim's garden is really good, he has more tomatoes than he knows what to do with, only 8 plants but they just keep producing fruit. The first night we had barbequed pork chops, with corn, potatoes from the garden, as well as salad with tomatoes and celery from the garden. Everything grows so well there. Richard also has a lot of tomatoes but not nearly the amount that Jim does.

I did not do too much while I was there, Richard was working during the day and Jim had projects on the go, residing the a couple of walls around the master bedroom, making a floor, that he can put the shed on. Very busy. Jim did most of the cooking though I made a couple of suppers and we had takeout one evening.

Sunday morning we went to a car boot sale, I bought some grapefruit marmalade and a lavender sachet, Richard got a couple of cd's and a postcard, and Jim just browsed. After that we went to city park and had a little walk around, there were some vendors so more stuff to look at. Monday Richard and I went to beach by the hospital, sat in the shade and read and chatted. I went in the water, but Richard did not.

Tuesday morning Jim made us breakfast and then Richard went to work and Jim drove me to the airport. Flight was on time, and the sky was clear around the mountains, so some really lovely views.

It was a good visit but as always I am happy to be home.

Another Folk Fest Over

It was a different festival for me this year, only me and no tarp. Laura came on Thursday night, and we found a little spot in between tarps to put our chairs. We had a view of the stage, kind of in the distance but a really good view of the screen beside the stage. It was a bit of a wait for the cab after, William Prince, Kaleo and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats were the performers and put on great shows, though they were all quite different.

I decided this year I would not be so hardcore, so no need to be there really early and get prime real estate on the hill. Friday night I went to Stage 2 and then left before main stage started. Mary Gauthier was there and I always enjoy her. I also heard a guy named Tre Burt who was great.

Saturday and Sunday were much the same, I picked out a couple of stages and just stayed there for a couple of sets. That way I saw people who I did not know but now like quite a bit. A woman named Kiely Connell from Nashville is a new favourite as well as a group called Bonny Light Horseman. I also got to see Mary Chapin Carpenter twice!! a real highlight for me.

On Saturday I was lined up to get some lunch and the guy in front of me in line bought mine!! What a kind thing to do. Sunday was blazing hot so every time there was a bit of a breeze, I was extremely thankful. I missed the headline acts for most of the weekend, but I can't say it upset me much because there was great music all day long. Matt Anderson had a great set on the main stage at 2:00, such a powerful voice.

It has been good staying at Grace and Dallyn's, they are great hosts. On Sunday night I went to Sam and Nancy's for dinner and got all caught up with them. Nancy's trip sounded really good and Sam cooked a great meal.

The next couple of days I am hanging out at the Bootsma's with Beau and then I will go to my appointment with Dr Kolinsky and see what's what with the immunotherapy. Supper with Allison tonight.

Goodbye to the Fairhearts

It was really nice to have the UK visitors around for the last 3 weeks and when it was time for them to leave I thought it can't have been 3 weeks already.

The weather was pretty good for the most part, we did have some thunderstorms and hail, but they cleared up and nice weather again.

One day we went out to the cabin and enjoyed the lake sitting on the dock. Anne and Lachlan took a couple of canoe trips and then after Geoff got there, he also took Lachlan for a little spin in the canoe too. It felt so peaceful sitting on the dock and just looking at the water. Laura and Wilf came for a visit as well. They were in the mood for a little road trip and picked Rocky as their destination. It was a nice visit with them as well.

Kane and Grady came over on the last day and we played baseball in the backyard and croquet on the front yard. I like croquet, you don't have to be too sportsy to play it and it involves a little skill and for me lots of luck.

Now that I think about it we did quite a bit that involved water, splash park, beach, kiddie pool in the back yard.

Tim was home for the last week of Anne and Del's stay, so that worked out very nicely. When Tim is home that means we see more of Grady which is always great. We celebrated his 9th birthday with a pizza and a movie night.
