Slave Lake

I have heard from some folks in Slave Lake and it is burning. Apparently houses about a block away from where we used to live have burned. It is unbelievable, the good thing however is no reports of injuries. It is hard to comprehend. The last big fire was 10 years ago and I remember how scared I was. My heart goes out to all the folks there.

It is very surreal -- I just read that 30% of the town has burned? I am also very relieved that you are not there!

They are now saying about 50% gone. The other towns around Slave are in trouble too. So sad.

The whole thing is unbelievable. It's almost sickening to see the video of the fire. Lots of your friends are probably wondering what to do next.

That is true, they either lost their house or they don't know if they have or not.

they are saying now that 3 other towns are really threatened - do you know which ones? Imagine your old house being burned - brr. when I talked to you yesterday, I just had no idea how bad it was and think I sort of brushed it off - sorry

I am not sure which ones, I heard that Widewater, Wagner and Canyon Creek are all in danger, they were evacuated before Slave. Also Chisholm and Faust have fires they are on the road to Slave.
You did not brush me off Mom, I think when we talked the fire had not hit the town yet.
