I hope I have the facts right on this pic - but then there is no one to dispute them, is there?

I believe this would be at Smiths sawmill in Chinook Valley, north of Grimshaw. Since at that time there were not many machines to bunch & load logs, this would have been done by the sweat of mens brow and really backbreaking heaving and pushing. This was a record breaking load for that mill and while the family lore said that Sandy loaded it (the implication being alone) there must have been others in on it too.
Sandy was Mothers 2nd youngest brother - born in 1910 in the house at Armstrong. He lived his adult life in Grimshaw, where he was a machinist and fire chief and his wife Lizzie was a florist - her claim to fame was making a flower arrangement for the Queen

I love reading about these old photos! Nothing pleases me more than when people get together and talk about the "good ol' days"!
