Travel in June
Geoff has been talking about going somewhere all winter. Finally he booked a trip - to Chicago. As far as I know, it wasn't even on the list. I think we're going because he found a seat sale, direct flight from Calgary to Chicago. And because Jude recommended it as a destination.
So he booked the flight, but we have been having an awful time finding accommodation. All hotels (except the likes of the Trump Tower) seem to be booked up. However, found a studio apartment rental that looks nice, good location as far as we can tell and quite reasonable. And if it is none of those, we will have a good time anyway.
Grace is now home for the summer although right now is back in Edmonton. She says she likes working at the hospital, gets the usual questions, "Who are your parents?" etc. She came home sick on Sunday with a bad stomachache and felt terrible about leaving work but she could hardly stand up. She was a lot better by Monday morning.
Geoff has not been working since before Easter and is really enjoying being at home. He has been working away at the suite and puttering in the yard. Things are coming along downstairs. When Geoff went to Edmonton to help Sam move he stopped at Ikea and got the bottom cabinets for the kitchen part, and soon will be ready to install them, then can finish the flooring in the kitchen and living room.
Tim has become very domestic. He was rototilling his garden yesterday since Courtenay wants to plant one. Has plans to build a new deck this summer.
Spring used to be my least favourite season, but I love it now. Every day something new is up in the yard, or is starting to bloom. I feel like I am living in The Secret Garden. Our veggies are planted. It is snowing tonight but is supposed to warm up again later in the week.

Have fun in Chicago.
Otherwise it is a great place to step off to other US destinations. When are you going?
Are Grace & Sam going to their convocations?
Have Fun!
Hey
Want everyone to be aware that Jude is feeling better - she has just been beavering around - mowing, trimming and digging veggie plots with vigor and grace! Surely has been a big assist for me
glad you're enjoying spring and that Geoff is keeping active! you deserve a Chicago vacation!
Glad Jude is feeling better. I know she wasn't pretending to be sick.
We are looking forward to our trip, there is a lot to do in Chicago. Sam's convocation is June 5. Grace has one more year before hers.
You're going to have such a great time in Chicago!
The aquarium is kind of fun. Science museum also. The long park by the lake is great. Lots of great neighbourhoods! Do you guys use Yelp? it's a good way to find tasty restaurants near where you are.
Thanks for the tips, Al. Sad that the Muppets won't be there though. We will be staying in Lincoln Park, supposed to be a really nice neighbourhood.
I think the Obamas used to live there?
and don't forget the Chicago city museum -- a total highlight of the trip that Judith & I took there.
