You were right Allison

Al, I'm so glad I listened to you about staying till the end of Calgary Folk Fest. It was so good! Grace, Jude, Geoff and I were all swaying together for American Pie. Along with the other thousands of people. It was great. I'm not sure how that works. You can hear that song any time you want but somehow having Don Maclean singing it makes it different. The whole audience knew the words, then at the end he had us sing the first verse again. If he didn't have to leave, we might be there singing still.
Calgary has a good FF. Staying right there is a bonus. Great to see all of you - two more weeks till the next one!

Sniff. I always get misty whenever someone thinks I'm right. Let Geoff know, will you?

Actually, I did feel sad about not getting to stay with you guys. It was a super fun festival... not that I didn't believe you before, Judith, but I'm just a slow learner.

We made good time on the drive home, even though we went to 3 different gas stations before we could find a bathroom before we left Calgary! I'm pretty tired today.

Nice to hear that you'all had such a good time at Calgary folkfest - can anyone ever get enough of American Pie?
Everything' about the same here - very short of news. Came home from downtown last week to find my street full of construction signs and my side with 6-8 ft torn up so they can build a side walk - had a fit as my drive was marked to and it meant losing a bunch of plants, but they are only going as far as the alley 1 house away.
It's been pretty hot - a week ago we had a few days that were cooler and rainy, but the past week has been in the 30s mostly and that is the forcast for another week.
Have had a couple of emails from Ramona - she and the neices were in the Maritimes - they've driven right across the country hauling a trailer and are having a great time = I think that they liked PEI the best. A few more days in NS and they head home.
There was an obit in the paper for Dora Schnell - she died in GP at 84, the charity mentioned was Altzheimers and they did not list survivors so I think he's gone too.
Talked to Jim last nite and he is planning a visit in the fall to help me with some stuff that needs looking after here - his idea, I didn't want to ask. but will appreciate it very much. Have been kind of lazy because of the heat and have not done many of the things I want to. Always manage a lot when it cools off in the fall.I can hardly believe this house is 11 yrs old soon - that means it's a bit ragged around the edges, and could use some upgrading.
Laura just called - she's in Penticton for a meeting but it does not seem likely that she'll have time for a visit - goes back Wed. She is really happy with the new house - Wilf is busy steam cleaning and painting and they have decided to replace all the windows - the existing ones are aluminum and don't fit too well.
As I say this is a slow news day, so bye for now
