Medium-Big News
I got a raise!
Turns out the girl who's maternity leave I was covering is now officially not coming back (she's off to be a yoga instructor and stay-at-home mom). Once the news was out, I got a letter saying my "salary increase reflects movement to the fully competent range on our salary grid, which is ahead of the usual schedule".
We're not talking a whopping raise (and still no benefits as of yet) but I am sure not complaining. Whee!!

Yay, money is always nice!
Hey Anne congrats! Does this mean you will soon be permanent and get all the benefits as well as more money or will that take some time?
Congrats Annie! A well deserved raise!
It may not be a whopping raise but you are making good money already. I think the good news is that after almost a year they think you are finally "fully competent." They may expect more work out of you than when you were partially competent.
Congratulations Anne!!
Thanks! The downside, of course, is that the program is still in negotiations and if it ends we all get turfed. Everybody's contract ends March 31st, at the moment, and no word on if there will be extensions. However, two months of better wages is better than a kick in the pants, as dad would say!
Oh yes, also: benefits would kick in if the program continues past March 31 (ie. they can't be bothered to sign me up in case they have to lay me off again)
and the letter said I had reached the fully competent level "ahead of the usual schedule", so I guess it takes everyone this long!
